The Similan Islands, known as the “Coral Garden”, have been designated as a national park by Thailand and a World Natural Heritage Site by the United Nations, and are the best diving tourism area in Thailand.
After driving to the coast of Phang Nga province’s Daguaba district, about 80 kilometers north of Phuket, you can board a speedboat from Ram Pier and travel westward on the Andaman Sea for more than 30 kilometers to the Similan Islands, which are composed of nine beautiful islands. Most of the small islands have no names, sorted by No. 1, No. 2 ……, only No. 8 is named “Ming Island”, the only place for tourists to live.
For those who love diving, the Similan Islands are a paradise, just a few hours’ drive northwest by boat from Phuket. The beauty of the coral reefs is breathtaking, and the many species of life in the sea make Similan the best place for scuba diving in Southeast Asia.
How to get there
The Similan Islands are accessible by speedboat. It takes about one hour to get there from Khao Lak, about one hour north of Phuket International Airport, and about three hours from Patong Beach on Phuket.

The Similan Islands are a group of islands in the Andaman Sea, 76 km northwest of Dubburam Port in Phang Nga Province, Thailand. The official name of the Similan Islands is Mukosimilan National Park, a marine national park with a circumference of 140 km2. It is a heavily protected area, and the Similan Islands can only be visited during the dry season from November to May.
