About KHAO SOK National Park
Khao Phrae Zoo is the largest zoo in Thailand and the only zoo in Bangkok. It was originally a royal garden built by Rama V of Bangkok Dynasty. The garden was filled with flowers and trees, and the environment was so beautiful that it was called the “Khao Phrae Royal Garden”. It is also known as Raksha Zoo because it is within the palace of King Raksha. After the reign of Rama VI, this garden was opened to the public. During the reign of Rama VII, the deer from “Xuananpong Royal Garden” (also known as “Deer Garden”) and “Xuanji Royal Garden” were moved here to be domesticated. Subsequently, rare animals were given to this place one after another, making it the largest zoo in Thailand. The white elephants here are very attractive and will salute visitors for food; the gibbons are also interesting and will always keep an eye on the popsicles in the hands of children. The park has a small harbor with a pond, surrounded by hamlet trees, and a small amusement park for children, and a lake with various kinds of boats, which is a good place for people to rest and play.
